You can measure the success of an app category based on penetration. According to Statista, these are the app categories with the highest penetration rate among Android users. Some of these categories need to be taken with a grain of salt. For example, look at the top categories on the list. Those apps such as communication apps likely come pre-loaded on all Android devices.
But aside from that, this list is a good indication of what types of apps Android users have downloaded apps like WhatsApp, Snapchat, Netflix, TikTok, Spotify, and Tinder.
