Download mp4 video but no sound

I thought it may be the EZ Vid software and perhaps it corrupted something or there is a conflict somewhere. I uninstalled the EZ Vid pgm and ran some cleanup but that didn't clear it. I'm at a loss. Suggestions would be appreciated. I realized how much I don't know in this department as I've never had this problem.

Thank you ahead of time. Joined May 16, Messages Is it just no sound on recently downloaded mp4 files and is the sound otherwise working normally in Windows? Also, are those old videos mp4s as well? Yes, just no sound on recent files. Sound is working on Windows. Old files are mp4's. Seann said:. No, I use Firefox most all the time and haven't started using a different downloader. I haven't converted the files during or after download either. After reading your reply I downloaded the same files with Chrome and still get the same problem.

Can you give me a link to a specific YouTube video that doesn't work after download so I can do some comparative testing?

Also, I am not familiar with how to download a YouTube video directly from YouTube without the use of a browser helper object of some sort. These aren't YouTube videos, they're products with several mp4 videos. This has happened with videos from two different product creators.

They're downloaded in zip files. Sorry I got off track. If you find that a particular MP4 file can't be played, for example, the MP4 movie you watched before, you can attribute the MP4 video no sound to the MP4 file itself. In this condition, you can try to repair the broken MP4 file online or download the same one from the websites. But on the another hand, if all MP4s have no sound, case 2 is the most likely cause.

If all your MP4 files are not playable on your device, please make sure your speaker is not disabled by accident and check whether if the Realtek driver supports the sound playback or not. Try to enable the speaker by the steps in the right image or download the latest driver from the official website or update the driver via a piece of professional software. There is another possibility for the problem that only a specific MP4 cannot be played.

That is, the audio codec of the MP4 file is not supported. If the media player does not support the audio codec in the movie you just watched, you may encounter the MP4 file no sound issues. In this condition, you can try another powerful media player. So if there's a better way to edit video on Windows, I'm open to suggestions.

Was this reply helpful? Yes No. Sorry this didn't help. Thanks for your feedback. Greg Windows Media Player gives me the same problem, where I see the video playing but without any sound. The troubleshooter plays a test sound, which I can hear fine, and then says it's unable to offer any other suggestions.

I've never tried to play videos on this computer before, so I don't really have a restore point I could go back to. Choose where you want to search below Search Search the Community.
